What is Echolalia?

Echolalia is the automatic repetiton of people copying you but its different than mocking or teasing. Let me explain. With people who have Echolalia, copying us is as natural as a human taking a breath. Saying that, they tend to copy people automatically like we breathe automatically without thinking "I should take a breath" That is just explaining they do it automatically so you should never take offense to someone with Echolalia copying you because they dont mean to do so, its just something they do without thinking about it. When they copy you, listen to their voice and you can hear your pitch and tone in their voice when they copy you. The only way you can tell if someone has Echolalia is to listen to your voice carefully and then theirs. People who dont have Echolalia will copy your voice without your tone and pitch but people with Echolalia will do it with both things. To me, Echolalia can be seen as mocking or teasing but in all fairness its something different. With other people who dont have Echolalia, they are teasing or mocking you. Echolalia can be found in Autism, Aspergers Syndrome and Torrets Syndrome. It can also be found if someone has a brain injury. In the case of Torrets and brain injury, people can actually grow out of it but in the case of Autism and Aspergers Syndrome, you cant grow out of it therefore it stays with them in life if they have Autism and Aspergers Syndrome but if they have Torrets Syndrome and a brain injury, it doesnt. How do I know so much about Echolalia? Well, I have looked it up but I also have a wonderful and handsome boyfriend with it so thats how I know so much about it.
