Since I am still very new to the topic of autism and to the likelihood that I am ASD1, I will be asking many questions on the Autism Forums discussion board.
I am concerned that it may seem as though I am trying to ascribe every single one of my quirks to autism, but allow me to assure the reader that this is not the case. I am simply still at that stage of learning in which I am trying to figure out what I should share with my health care provider as part(s) of the reason that I think I should be evaluated for autism.
I am absolutely not the type of person who shops for disorders which I can use to explain all of my quirks, weirdnesses, and failings. I was simply amazed when I learned what "high functioning" autism is, to learn that I just might have found an actual explanation for so much of my life and experiences. During the course of almost six decades of life (so far!), I've accumulated quite a list of odd behaviors, needs, and quirks. The simplest explanation for this list is, it seems to me, "high functioning autism."
I hope that I will be forgiven for asking dumb questions as I triangulate on what aspects of my life might actually be due to autism.
