Fong Fei Fei is one of the few Mandopop, or rather, pop singers, that I listen to.

Fong Fei Fei was the Dolly Parton of Mandarin pop, or Mandopop. Or maybe I can express it this way, in my mother's era, she was as famous as Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston (who died a month after her) combined, in both Taiwan and Singapore (where I live). I hear she's even more popular than the most famous Mandopop artiste of all, Teresa Teng, in her native island. I wonder why everyone in the world goes ga-ga over Teresa Teng - Fong represents a true depiction of the typical Mandopop artist than Teng herself.

It's said that Fong can act in films and dramas, host TV shows, perform for ROC expatriates and even had a family in the process.

Most important of all, she's a role model for all artistes in our world.

She is the ultimate idol. She shakes hands with members of the audience, very supportive of capable singers, approachability with other people, carefree singing style. She's too 'country', like Parton, but who cares. She's Fong, anyway.

Here is one of Fong's classics: Remembrance
