Fill our buckets first before lighting it up blue

I think we need to be responsible fiscally to repay all government obligations. However, there are a few helpless people who are not able to contribute to society, unless society offers them support first and foremost.

This is why we need to cut all unnecessary spending. Anything that looks more symbolic than practical has to go, in my opinion.

All lighting costs such as Light It Up Blue in government buildings, for World Autism Awareness Day, is fluff to me, regardless of the so-called significance even to people like me. Actually, I am glad that the new New South Wales State Government eliminates funding for the lighting under the auspices of 'autism awareness'. I feel they are better off funding the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) than installing blue lights for autism.

I wonder whether we question the motives of autism awareness. The more aware we are in terms of knowing autism the diagnosis, not the talents, the more we resent autism. I do think

Also, this blue lighting, in my opinion, does not contribute to the economy much more than lighting Sydney Opera House red - because it was done in Chinese New Year, and Australia (and everywhere else in the world) needs Chinese investments, to say the least and to be practical. Do you have ideas to make all Aspies generate ideas to create new things in the economy? I think I have, but it's now our job to put systems in place to enable different Aspies to work together, and this takes time. I feel all the hoo-ha with 'awareness' does not really solve our short-term (intervention) and long-term (employment, family support etc.) issues.

I think spending on employment training is much more effective for most people on the Spectrum), by far. If not, at least we should be put on welfare, since it may cost more to put us on work than to let us be unemployed, while enjoying State disability benefits. It's not as if we haven't done our best - we may have all the language, technical and even visible splinter skills, but we may individually have our own issues that prevent us from employment. Expecting employment in Aspies, for now, should be a goal, but it definitely should not be forced onto everyone.

However, at the same time, we also need to support schemes for the disadvantaged, and NDIS is a good start for all people with Autism. We also need to fund vocational programs that put employment to most of our friends on the Spectrum. I believe with less government waste, and also with the view to repay government debt, a tax hike will then be necessary, and it will be good and more sustainable for the nations in the long run.
