A request: posts that have titles describing extreme violent acts make that picture in my mind every time I see it. If it was buried in the post, no big deal but I actually do see it every time I read throught the forums, and it hurts. Please chsnge the title to one that doesn't assault visual thinkers. Thank you.
• this refers to EP's recent post in Serious.

kestrel
It is a word describing an act of violence toward a human.
With graphic elements immediately implied.

Please advise:
What about animal nouns?

My friend in Florida freaks out over reptiles and
I have become accustomed to explaining the
words in links I send her, so that she actually
clicks on them. Otherwise, she is so avoidant
the information never gets conveyed. Some
links use words that are entirely not related to
the content.

Animal nouns?
Unfortunately, it is 'hard-wired' and part of my disgnosis - I can't change the fact that my brain immediately processes it as seeing a 70 year old man actually doing it. It is both my strength and my weakness to see the world and words, in pictures.
I am not angry, it is a request, not a demand, nor a right, I know that.

kestrel
Animal nouns...you know, like
the long slithering reptiles with no limbs?
(garter s----. Seriously the word freaks my friend out
so bad she won't even look at the WORD.)
I sometimes touch them, if they have been laying in the
shade. Not to be mean. Just because, "Hey guy---you're
laying there. Hi. See you later."

Sp*der. Worm. Things like that.
Are you OK with nouns that mean animals?
Some people aren't.

Strength and weakness usually describe the same thing, that is true.

I am the same Kestrel! And I sincerely hope that none of my threads has caused you distress?

No one can talk about disgusting things when I am eating, because my imagination gets carried away and that is it, can't stomach the food. Also, I have to turn my face away, when at a meal; my husband blows his nose or wipes his mouth with his hanky because I am the one who cleans them and so, whoa does me in!

Images can stay in my mind for ages.

Yes, when someone describes something, I can picture it and sometimes, causes meltdowns.

Yes I am fine with animal nouns. I also have no trouble touching animals, spiders, bugs, snakes, etc. Admit to a bit of a leap and a squack when I stepped on a king snake by mistake with bare feet. I grew up running around the high sierra all the time by myself or with my little brother. Nature teaches us lots, or, it can....

OK.
I had to check because I like to talk about animals.
And I censor myself, for my friend.
She is missing out hearing about cute little snakes.
And she never let any Daddy Longs or caterpillars walk on her arm.(when she was a girl)
I used to when I was little. I don't now, because I think it would be
annoying to them. They have other things to do.

Nature can only teach people who
want to learn.

"Nature can only teach people who
want to learn."

You sound like Dickon, tree.

Have you read F. H. Burnett's The Secret Garden?

I must go now. Have a painting to work through.

thank you tree.

"Might I have a bit of earth?"

I had a 'skipping rope' when I was nine.
Wooden handles. RUBBER 'rope.'
Not a good idea to miss a jump, if
wearing skirt or shorts.

qwerty
She makes a valid point. Although I do like spiders & snakes...
Hmm. Now I am confused. Oh, I see. She doesn't like them,
but I do. But not down my shirt. Nope.
