I do. I've always loved the library. I prefer books to Kindle, iPads and the like. I'm not very tech savvy anyway. There's just something about going in to the library and seeing all the books and handling them that I like. I do hope they'll retain libraries in the future, but I fear our county might close ours to save money. :(

Not much a library person but when I started the business program and they visit my class, it help me learn how much they can help me going in person compare to depending on online information on self search.

I agree with you with paper books. Despite I'm in the technology trade, I prefer paper books. I know South Korea is trying to aim for a paperless classroom which I find is a very bad idea.
 
Well, I can't check out any books (long story and it's not my fault), but it's a nice place to hang out...the library where I live has all sorts of cozy little nooks and crannies where I can hide out and do my thing without any interruptions and in complete physical comfort.
 
My home is my library, if I need a book I purchase it. I want to store knowledge when my hand can always reach it.
 
Something I didn't know about my local public library that you can suggest new books and normally they will purchases it. Same thing for DVD's as well. I was very shocked when my father borrowed In Living Color DVD. I would never imagine you can get an DVD like this at the library. It was a comedy show I really like during my childhood.
 
The last time I was in a public library.....that was in 1998 when I needed access to mathematics textbooks to cram for an entrance exam to tech school.

Growing up in the 60s and 70s my parents made sure we frequented libraries almost weekly.

Oh yeah. I was in a public library in 2008...when I left the state for good. Donated my father's college yearbook. Might sound odd, but as I explained to the clerk receiving it I asked her, "How many college yearbooks have astronauts and former presidents?"
 
I went there a lot when I was a kid, but haven't really been since. Our libraries tend to be small and usually don't have what I'm looking for.

I find it easier to go into the library than trying to figure out their electronic library. :P
That is where I usually get my comics. :D

Our downtown library isn't just a homeless bathroom, it's also a place for gangs to hang out. Or, at least it will be until the police station opens across the street at some point in the future.

I use it during the summer because it's a place with air conditioning, even though it doesn't work well. :mad:

I use libraries often. I enjoy them for the sense of community and the feel of immersion. I like that a library is a dedicated destination. It puts me in a certain frame of mind that I find pleasant. I daresay it even makes me feel a bit smarter, and more refined, to go to a library. Old-fashioned, too. I like being a bit old-fashioned in some respects.

I just can't make the switch to eBooks. I'm too sensual a person, and I don't think an over-reliance on technology is healthy. I like the weight, the feel, the smell of a book. The small ritual of marking the page and setting it down once I'm through for the moment. Having shelves full of favourite titles with their presence reminding me who I am.

I miss going to someone's house and browsing their collections of books, movies, and music, and having others see mine. It's a basis for understanding and a conversation starter. And such collections add to the ambiance of a room. I also like that each medium requires its own special process for accessing the contents. Having everything on one's phone or computer, and using the same sort of virtual buttons to get into everything, takes away so much of the experience of owning media for me.
 
The public library here is laughable at best.. and has been for over 10 years. It's rarely open and the collection is pretty minimal. So I rarely visit.

I loved the libraries in the UK. I get a different feeling from them. It's a more formal atmosphere, like a library should be.
 
We go to the library every month or so with my older son. I don't know where they get the money from but their collection is updated regularly. I haven't seen a lot of homeless people at the location where we usually go, but again it's on our "shopping" street where almost all the stores are located. I kinda like it there, hope they keep improving and I hope they will continue getting funds. I rarely take any books from there, I usually buy books on Kindle. I have problems with reading paper books, I need to have specific background and font to be able to focus and read without headaches. Sometimes I can focus on paper as well, but I prefer electronic ones.
 
I love the library, love feeling a book in my hands, it's a peaceful place to sit and read and there are free resourses, internet (I'm not on-line) and books I can order that I can't get as free downloads.
 
I LOVE GOING TO THE LIBRARY MABY I WILL GO TO ONE THIS WEEK OR NEXT WEEK I HAVE NOT DECIED YET ON WHEN I WANT TO GO
