Whistling, snapping, and winking, etc...

Whistling is the only one I have trouble with now, it's inconsistent every time. I can pull it off really well when it works though.

I can’t snap my fingers and cannot wink or whistle very well,I always thought it was a unique problem for me but it turns out that’s not the case.

I couldn't do it for a long time either until I read in a book about a man who 'raised only one brow in contempt'... And then suddenly I had to learn it and glower at everyone with one brow raised. Imagine that weird kid standing before every mirror and scowling at herself all the time, be it at home, shop or school. And then my annoyance... when I first learnt to wink with both eyes and I still can't raise my right brow!

Oh, and I definitely can't whistle while blowing out the air. It works for me only while inhaling.

I can raise one brow but only the left one :)

The same with me and it was really frustrating as I wanted to be able to raise especially right one. Now it seems rather silly but many of those little problems from my childhood do. Or maybe those little distractions.

There's some things I can do that I think most people wouldnt be able to, and then others that most can that I cant do.

Like the Vulcan thing... that takes no effort. But what I can also do with it is then hold it so that my index & pinky remain in place, but then move just the middle two fingers to meet in the middle. And then back to the normal Vulcan thing. And then just repeat that really fast. No, I dont know why. Not exactly a useful skill, but it baffles people.

I can also do things like open childproof things (like pill bottles) or things like soda bottles with one hand, not needing to hold them against a table or anything. I do it really fast too, it doesnt involve any slow fumbling. I can pick up and throw things (accurately) with my feet. I actually pick stuff up that way frequently (and can also bring them up to my hand without altering my balance), it's bizarrely natural to me. Can do a cat "purr" noise by producing a funky type of vibration in my mouth (I dont know how else to describe it). Lotsa stuff like that basically. I also type super fast, but that's due to way too much practice.

But then I CANT do some other things. Cant whistle, cant ride a bike (ugh, that's the really big one), cant handle walking on ice at all (most people dont slip THAT easily, but I need to just plain never step in it). Cant gargle water, that's a recipe for inhaling it instead. Cant run very well without too much chance of somehow falling. Not that I"d want to be running much anyway... And there's no way I could ever do something like rollerskating or skateboarding (again though, wouldnt want to try anyway). I also cant really catch things that are tossed at me, despite my coordination. Like, if I were to try baseball? Ugh. That'd be a recipe for disaster. I'd just get hit by the bloody thing over and over.

There is one other thing I can do, but it's not so much a coordination skill as it is just odd. Walking on a beach, along the ocean for instance... I can walk on piles of broken, jagged shells without pain and without cuts. The area I walk along, near our other house that's on an island nobody's ever heard of, is practically covered in them when you're close enough to the water. Oddly, when I find INTACT shells, they are... in a parking lot (???) or in other not-even-close-to-water spots. That's frequent. Someday I'll figure out why. But yeah, for whatever reason my feet are completely callused. Even stepping on a random Lego wouldnt do much.

So, yeah, that's all pretty strange...

You could have a new job for yourself... :D

I have trouble winking. I can snap my fingers with my left hand which is odd because I am right handed.

Although I have been advised that snapping one's fingers to gain attention can be construed as rude and bad-mannered so I don't tend to use the gesture.

A lot of all this is practice.

Can't snap.. everyone at school would be in a circle snapping for music class and I'd just kinda awkwardly pretend. I don't want that much friction between fingers ew.
Whistling quietly is actually what I'd consider my stim. A lot of that kinda thing takes me a lot of practice though, such as blowing gum.
I do pick up stuff with my feet too, so I don't have to bend down. I'm pretty good at it.
My right eye and brow, I can't really move without moving the other side.

Couldn't whistle or snap as a kid or even teenager (I figured out how to snap first) but now I can do both. I still can't blow bubblegum. Winking and the Vulcan thing came very naturally. I learned to whistle actually by sucking in air rather than blowing out and is still my strong suit.
