We Might Finally Know One of the Causes of Autism, Thanks to Science

It's interesting, but my Mum never had any serious infections while pregnant. She was only hospitalised after giving birth to me, because she suffered a haemorrhage and needed blood transfusions.

EDIT: My bad, it does state "one of the causes". I misread it as saying "the cause".

If this (or other things like it) don't account for everyone on the spectrum, I think it's important to remember that just because we're all grouped together by a man-made book that measures outward factors (syndromes) doesn't mean that we all got here due to the same exact causes - and that if we look at actual etiology, there may be a few different diagnoses that would actually break up the spectrum. Again, why I don't think autism and Asperger's should be lumped together. The argument was, I believe, that even if we kids with autism and kids with Asperger's start out with different symptoms, we all end up more or less the same (if of the same level of functioning) - but that ignores etiology, imho - that early difference does matter, and lumping it all together just blurs things too much. But I digress!

My mom got rubeola (measles) while pregnant of me. The doctor recommended her to abort, she said no, here I am. Maybe it’s coincidence, but I bet she would say ‘oh, that’s explains it all’.
