Worst thing you can do to a Toyota is try to modify it, fastest way to destroy a perfectly good car....owned a standard landcruiser for about 3 hours before it quit me. As it had a Chevy 327 motor conversion done in it .
These days you see a lot of them with high rise suspension kits, another perfect way to ruin your car. Raising the suspension doesn't make the axles any higher, it just makes them more unwieldy in corners. Any time you see that you know the owner lives in the city and they thinks driving through a well manicured national park is "going bush".
By far the most popular here is the Hilux, the poor man's Troopy.

People in the bush rely on them, but once again all the older ones with no electronic crap to break down on you. Bull bars are pretty much compulsory here, we have a lot of wildlife. For anyone that's serious about their car the only modifications they make are different tyres for different terrains and the tray configuration at the back.
This one's being used by Australia's iron ore giant BHP, their company vehicles are almost exclusively Toyota Hiluxes.
