Update Your Windows 10 Version To 21H2 NOW

You think Windows 11 is the pits? Mac OS 12 (Monterey) is really hacking me off!

First off, Apple is repeating a major mistake by creating their own CPUs, that are completely incompatible with everything! Case in point, I worked tech support for an Apple Contractor from 2002 to 2004, when the flat panel iMac was introduced, in addition to the iPod and iTunes. My biggest beef with the iPod and iTunes, was iTunes ability to lose songs that I had already imported. While this issue has improved Omer the years, it still have issues with Apple Music losing songs I imported. Many were the time I was ready to ask my former pastor, who, with his wife, graduated from the same university as me, and spent 20 years as a developer at IBM (and his wife was a business consultant for IBM) before entering Concordia Theological Seminary—St. Louis, to write a new backend in DB II to eliminate that issue.

My latest gripe with Tim Cook and company is with Monterey refusing to install on a 6th generation Mac Pro (aka the trash can) if the installer detects the ssd is not the exact same model coming from the factory. If this happens, forget about having Monterey installing the latest EFI firmware on the machine. Monterey has also been known to brick a few older machines, that are supposedly compatible (and I’m not talking about machines where their owners installed Open Core in order to run anything newer than OS X 10.14 (Mojave) thereby delegating them to the junk pile.

since Apple decided to no longer support Intel, I guess, once intel support is completely dropped, Linux Mint will be my new best friend. Before I bought the trash can, I was running MacOS, Windows 10 and Linux Mint 20 on my Cheese grater (aka Mac Pro 4,1 that I flashed the firmware to 5,1, installed a usb 3.1 card, and 2 ssd adapters, and was booting Mac OS 12 Monterey, Linux Mint with Open Core wile running Windows 10 in Legacy Mode (since Microsoft’s version of UEFI tends to brick Apple’s (Actually, Intel’s implementation) of EFI

And frankly, I was leery of purchasing the trash can, as my health to taken a serious downturn, now that I have Chronic Kidney Disease type 3(a) to contend with, in addition to type 2 diabetes, PTSD, Asperger’s, serious depression and hypertension to deal with. I had a blowup with my PCP (whose specialty is Internal Medicine), asking why he hasn’t put me on an insulin pump, as I haven’t been able to get my A1C levels below 7.0, and having more than enough trouble walking, let alone standing still for any length of time without severe pain in my lower back. The only thing he has done so far is refer me to an endocrinologist, and a pain specialist and physical therapy and imaging. I’m surprised be hasn’t referred me to a nephrologist, to begin dialysis. At least he, or the endocrinologist didn’t put me on Farxiga, since the last time a doctor had me on that medicine, I ended up in ICU near death, since I’m allergic to that medication. Someone perform Mussorgsky’s Songs and Dances of Death, as I might not be around much longer…

This is an old satirical cartoon series called 2DTV which pretty much took the pee out of anyone and anything... including Bill Gates...

That's also been an issue on my computer. Where I realized that it wasn't that the bios was so out of date as it simply relies on Microsoft UEFI to boot, which to no surprise Linux seems a bit "allergic" to. Forcing me as well to run in legacy mode. The weird part though, is in using removable drives, each time I reinstall my Linux SSD, I must go into the bios to reassign the ubuntu drive as the primary boot drive. Annoying, but manageable. Yet I never have to alter the boot sequence when booting up Windows 10.

Bottom line being what I already knew. That motherboard manufacturers pander primarily to Microsoft.

The more I think about now, if I do build another computer it makes more sense to build it based on the idea of an exclusive OS rather than swappable drives.

I read just now that Microsoft is adding its AI-powered Bing search engine to new Windows computers/Windows 11.

:fearscream: So if I buy a new computer, that computer comes with Windows 11 and somewhere on that computer this AI-thing lives? Creepy.

It wont live on your PC, technically. The CONNECTION to it will.

You can disable that though, just cut that connection outright. I had already done it on mine even before whatever that is happened, as Bing (which was there from the start) constantly trying to shove news articles and such down my throat every time I opened the stupid Start menu was getting on my nerves just a bit.

Naturally though they make the process of doing this as irritating as possible. I seem to recall editing a registry key or two.

In any case Windows 11 is plenty creepy long before any of that. And buggy, and full of holes, and badly designed, and the list goes on...

I miss Windows 7. It just freaking worked (mostly) and wasnt a glorified pile of spyware or whatever this current abomination is. I hate 11, with a passion...

If you can avoid using 11, just... yeah, do that. It aint good. I mean, 10 isnt exactly good either, but it's better than this.

I dread the day when my computer stops working and all that is left are windows 11 laptops. Ever since the end of windows 7 I only end up with the newer versions because that's all that's being sold anymore.

I’ve had to have MS and upgrading through 11 because of having to access the state computer systems. But now that I am retiring, maybe I could figure out Linux.

Not working. No gaming.

the newer versions of windows are broken in so many ways. especially 22h2. slowness issues with SSD's games flickering, compatibility issues, all sorts. the safest build apparently, is 1903. microsoft often threatens end of life, because they want people using the new bloated, tracking infected, spying OS, windows 11. unless you know how to debloat windows, and remove the BS. NTLite is great for this, although it costs for a license
