Unusual Musical Instruments...

Although the Harmonica isn't all that unusual an instrument it's rare to see it used at this level:

 
And being an Aussie I have to include a song with the Didgeridoo, it's been used in a few hit songs over the years.

 
I have a CD of Christmas music played on one of these. Invented by by Benjamin Franklin in 1761.

The Octobass has a low note that is so low it doesn't register as "sound" to the human ear.
 
There's a Helmet song, "Biscuits for Smut" that has dude playing a banjo through a distortion pedal. I always thought that was pretty cool.
