Two Opportunities Came up This Week

Mattymatt

Imperfectly Perfect
They say when one door closes, another opens. I was selected for an interview with Piedmont Airlines for a ramp agent at Philadelphia International Airport scheduled for this Thursday morning. Piedmont is a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Airlines and I'll get the same flight benefits as an American employee. Tomorrow at 9am, I have an interview with First Transit to drive an airport shuttle bus. Both are good opportunities but I am keeping my fingers crossed for Piedmont. It's less money but I'll be able to fly for free! :-)

What happened to your trucking job? I thought you said that was a good job and you were happy. You have not been on the forums too much and I have missed you!

I guess you been applying to other positions now. Hope you find something you like.

I got fired because I was late on a delivery and they claimed I failed to communicate the problem. Actually, I did communicate it via a telephone call to my dispatcher. Of course, my dispatcher claimed I never made that phone call. I *should* have sent him an email via the onboard computer system. In corporate America, email is cover your rear end.

I was offered the bus driving gig but couldn't take it because the job was on the graveyard shift. Since I am only 5 months post-op from weight loss surgery, there is concern that a severe disruption in sleep patterns could cause stomach acid build-up and possibly ulcers. My surgeon specifically said that for the first year I cannot take a graveyard job.

Time
Oh, I am so sorry about all these troubles Mattymatt. As for the phone call, couldn’t you prove you made the call on that day at a certain time? Cell phones record time and date of calls sent. So frustrating!
Deliveries
I also never knew about the severe disruption of sleep habits after weight loss surgery. You have challenges , but keep on trying and don’t let these frustrations get you down. Can you do local daytime deliveries? How about school bus companies? They are hiring right now.
