AUTISM campaigner Kevin Healey has left social media site Twitter - because he says he does not feel safe.

The 40-year-old, from Newcastle, has been a victim of online trolling and impersonators setting up fake accounts in his name to discredit him.

Mr Healey had asked for the social media site to verify his account and provide more protection against abusive messages, receiving the support of local politicians and more than 1,500 people in an online petition, but has been unable to convince the America-based company.

He said: “They’re not protecting me or verifying my account, so I’ve had to take a break because I don’t feel safe with all these impostors and cloned accounts.

“Over the last few days I’ve had loads of messages of support, but I can’t come back on the site until I feel safe.”

Really ?!?! People have nothing better to do than to troll this man for trying to do some good in the world ? I wish Twitter would do something about the nasty trolls impersonating him :|
