Time change

I like DST because I am not a morning person. The added sunlight to the length of the day is great for me.
If the only reason people want earlier sunrise is to give more light to kids walking to school, why make school start so early?
Do most people actually like getting up at that time? Or is it another herd mentality rule?

I like the extra sunlight, but other than that, it's super confusing for me and I end up falling asleep and waking up at odd hours. And I'm someone who usually gets up super early before work anyways (not always because I want to lol)

@Judge Our state legislature tried to end it too, if I remember correctly, but it didn't happen. Can't imagine why.

I also don't get why they start school so early in the US. I worked at a middle school for a year and I had to be at the school by 6am (the students got there at 7) but the staff didn't leave for the day until 4pm. At certain times of the year I was driving to work when it was pitch dark outside.
But young children having to get up at the crack of dawn seems strange to me. Even at my age it's stressful.

I just want the time to stay the same. Just pick regular time or DST - either one is fine - and stick with it year-round!

Time change? What time change? (Posting from QLD, Aus.)

The USA will switch to Daylight Savings Time on Sunday morning. Or at least the states that have DST will do so. That means everyone moves their clocks one hour ahead. So 7:00 a.m. will be 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Now it will become prematurely bright an hour early here. Oh boy. More sleep lost.

Switching time does not give anyone more light. It just changes the times of the light. I have a strong circadian rhythm and get totally messed up at each time change. It takes me months to adapt.

Just keep it the same.

Here, solar noon averages around 1:05 PM. I like it. Next week, most of my regular Zoom meetings will be an hour earlier, but some won't, and it is a hassle to know which. People even forget they are on daylight time and post meeting times as standard.

Sorry, I didn’t explicitly mention that we don’t do that here (which was what I was alluding to in my post.)

One place in North America will switch to Daylight Savings Time permanently: The Province of British Columbia (BC) Canada.
