It's an antidepressant and I'm simply curious to know if anyone has heard of it. Where I live, I can just buy it online.

Hope it helps. I care deeply about someone who may deal with this and sadly, my hugs don't cure this. Best of luck.

It looks from that article to have the same action and risks as other mild opiates since it activates opiate receptors. Just from that, regular use might have the potential for addiction. Overdose is possible. There are a few areas where it is either banned or considered a controlled substance.

The article did not really give any hint of how strong it is, just that they are getting calls about its use.

Buying it online means nothing. That's how it is with drugs that haven't been bright on the radar. I was alive when LSD was perfectly legal.

Never heard of it, but apparently, where I am in France, it is on prescription, so that means our government has authorised it, but personally, I will never touch chemical meds if I can help it or for a short time, as my psychiatrist did insist I take chemical meds and I must say, that when I ran out and could not go ( because I had been at home too long, and anxiety hit me, so had to cancel), I did not have anymore of the meds and amazingly, never suffered the withdrawl symptoms and just ever so slightly, an improve in social anxiety.

I read that the pharma doesn't want it, because it does not accru wealth for them, which is so typical of them, but hey, if you can get them on line and they work, good for you.

It has not been approved by the FDA in the US. There seems to be increasing abuse of this drug here: The Rise in Tianeptine Abuse: Our Next Kratom Problem?

I would ask your doctor. This does not seem like a good choice. Michigan just listed it as a schedule II drug.

Good grief. I never cease to be amazed at the ready availability of some stuff that really shouldn't be readily available. That one sounds like a doozy.

Various questionable herbals (IIRC that's what kratom is) are one thing - bad, but not all that surprising. But a tricyclic antidepressant? Yikes. That's something that needs to be used under a doctor's care.
