Thinking Literally

I am suddenly reminded of an incident with my brother.

He had just come back from a thrift shop with some new clothes. He was very excited about this new tee shirt he had bought. It had a silhouette of a rooster with the word "BLOCKER" underneath in big, bold print. "Rooster blocker!" he proclaimed, "What does that even mean? It's so Dada!" It bears explaining that at this point my brother was going to an art school, and apparently his academics had outpaced acquisition of common slang.

Everybody in the room began to snicker. "What? Does it actually mean something? Is it bad!?" My brother was mortified. He never wore the shirt.
