There are suddenly a lot of ants in New England, USA wondering why this tall human keeps sniffing them. My sense of smell gives me so much trouble (I seem to smell too many things, too strongly), but I'm disappointed to say that I can't smell ants.

The smell of ants

I hesitate to mention it, but squashed ants can smell quite pungent. I hasten to add I don’t go around squashing ants but, if an ant is biting me, I will brush it off and it might get damaged in the process.
I sure won’t do it on purpose, but I will try that if I come across a squished one. I've spent a lot of time watching ants lately, trying to photograph them.
