The Dentist

As the title suggests, it's time for me to go to the dentist. I absolutely hate having to go there with all of the strange sensations and stimuli. I did not get a wink of sleep last night. I guess this is just one of those things that I'll have to suffer through. I really don't even like the dentist that I go to as his bedside manner is somewhat abrasive but he is close by.

Wow it really wasn't that bad! The oral hygienist used a new kind of water jet instead of a pick. This wasn't bad at all!

Bedside manner helps I think. Often it doesn't really affect the actual pain experience, but it makes it easier in a psychological way. With a dentist I like I feel more enabled to express my concerns and explain if something is becoming very uncomfortable. So a friendly dentist might be worth a longer trip. I and my family have changed for that reason before. That said, the profession is always advancing and becoming easier and anxiety about it although understandable is usually unwarrented. Next time, just tell yourself its probably going to be fine and get some sleep.
