Temple Grandin does an "Ask me Anything" on Reddit

I had a telephone conversation with Temple this year.
Dr. Grandin and I both think in pictures.

Lucky you! I've never had a personal conversation with her, but she seems like a great lady. She's coming to a nearby town pretty soon to talk at the university. Already have tickets! Just curious, how did you end up meeting her? She gives talks at some of the stock shows we've been to, but I've never met her in person.

persistence...I contacted her thru her office desk at Colorado State University and was quite surprised to have her return my call. I place a lot of trust in an individual who has walked the walk and not just talked the talk.
When I got my phonecall,it was like getting to meet the rockstar of autism... I was floating on air for days :)

I know what you mean, I first met the guy who gave major breakthroughs in breaking the "Maya code" whenever I was a kid- it was also like meeting a rockstar for me, as one of my obsessions swivels around Mesoamerican linguistics and writing systems. I didn't know I was going to run into him, so I just stuttered and gasped. He was chill about it though, his son is autistic and Dr. Stuart definitely shows some symptoms- he gave me a lot of good books that he or his friends had written and sent me home with a big poster of the Palenque Panel from the Temple of the Cross that he had drawn out. I've met up with him and his sister a few times since then. I'm friends with his sister, Ann, and facebook buds with David Stuart himself, though I don't chat with him like his sister and I do. I'm ranting yet again. I'm sure this doesn't sound very exiting, but as a kid me meeting Dr. Stuart felt like how most overweight women in their mid-forties must feel meeting Dr. Oz.
It must have been very neat to chat with Temple Grandin, to say the least. If there is a rockstar of autism, she's definitely it. After looking through her replies in the link above, she seems like a very "chill" and intelligent person.

I missed her speaking tour two times last year, but really want to meet her in person soon :)
