[Suggestion] "AF-ter Dark" subforum / 18+ off-topic discussion

If Ari ever gets around to fixing Intensitysquared, just go join over there.

You can have all the adult discussions you like PLUS you can post porn there too.

It's also fun to flame some of the people there, some of them deserve it.
What's intensitysquared.

What's intensitysquared.

A quick Google search reveals that IntensitySquared is another Autism spectrum forum, and apparently the one "everyone loves to hate". From the looks of things, it's either not currently active or the boards themselves can only be viewed by members.

It seems like they pride themselves on their toxicity and a culture of "combative debate". (As an aside, I will admit their refreshing "new" section on the top of any page contained a few pretty funny / witty quotes.) So in essence, little more than the same corrosive tripe that earned WP its notoriety in recent years, only codified as the site's mission statement.

Yeah, I'm good with all that for now. A hostile atmosphere is kinda the thing that prompted me to "migrate" from WP over to AspiesCentral (as it was called back in 2015 when I registered) in the first place. Not being able to post porn here is a price I'm willing to pay. And besides, to view flame wars as a fun or justified pastime is frankly a little horrifying.

Although I will admit there have been several individuals on WP and (to a far lesser extent) here who kinda brought it upon themselves... I can explicitly recall one gentleman whose "Aspie obsession" was farting in tracksuit bottoms. Yeah, uhhhh... you're kinda on your own with that one, buddy.

But I digress! I'm content with keeping the chill vibes here on AF flowing like usual. I think you've all made some solid cases for why opening this section wouldn't be the best idea for this forum.

It would be nice to have a "bar"-style board for adult members to BS with one another, in an environment that's still dignified and drama-free. But I realize now that not opening one is probably for the best.

Are they one of those fascist ASD communities that want to kill/enslave/oppress NTs? They seem kinda weird already but if this is true then they are as, if not more stupid as WP.

A site like that used to exist, Dunc's Drivel. It was founded by Duncvis who actually helped Alex plank with a lot of the technical issues of setting up Wrong Planet back in 2004. Duncvis also helped set up Intensitysquared in 2006. Dunc's Drivel went away almost 10 years ago.

I've considered setting up my own site similar to that but it's hard to recruit members and have them stay around and the drama is simply unavoidable

No, they are/were more like the UFC of Autism sites. Very adult, very combative but also over time developed a close nit community. For a time they were the Woodstock for adult Aspies.

I'm well aware that the mods and admins of AutismForums (I can't help but keep calling it AspiesCentral in my head) try to keep a PG-13 atmosphere on the site. I really appreciate that, because this means that the resources and solidarity on our forums are accessible to the widest possible audience. So that Autistic youth can equip themselves with strategies for navigating social situations and effective self-advocacy in an online environment where they aren't confused, overwhelmed, or intimidated.

However, I can't help but think there's a golden opportunity to set up a separate, member's-only subforum exclusive to posters who have their birthday set to over 18, and have maybe above say 50 posts.

Here people could have more, shall we say, "taboo" discussions on subject matter that may not be appropriate for minors, in a more chill and less restrictive environment than the rest of the forums. (I do not mean "restrictive" as an insult BTW...) Short of links to porn and outright cybersex RPs, and other material prohibited on AF as a whole, most anything here would be fair game as long as it doesn't compromise a chill, easy-going atmosphere.

Topics of discussion could include our autistic sex lives, drug / alcohol use (responsibly of course), our messed-up life experiences, and I for one would very much appreciate an NSFW music thread. The sky's really the limit.

And if possible, from a coding point-of-view, it would be really dope if the profanity filter was disabled, just for this section. But I know this proposal is asking a lot already...

Let me know if any of you would be down for this crazy idea. Has something like this ever been considered in the past? Ultimately it's up to the staff to decide, but I'd love to hear people's reasoning for, or against this proposal. Thanks for hearing me out, and take it easy!
I'd probably post hiking stories and photos. But nobody would want to see them. ;)

Anything that is adult content goes on my personal blog at WordPress. Also anime discussions, philosophical maunderings, COVID-19, self care, and other stuff. There's nothing sexual there but I am am a nudie...

I have found the blog-o-sphere to be unrelentingly supportive of my eccentricity. No negativity in 4 years of blogging.
