When no walking Cane is readily available, the horses' poop scoop is a handy substitute for my balancing routines.😅

Shovels make the best walking sticks!

Shovels have good thick handles and the blade of the shovel scoop kind of "chunks" into the ground with each step to help support your body, preventing slips or falls on uneven ground.

Made me wonder how the performance of Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle might have been when they danced on stage with pooper-scoopers instead of walking canes, putting on the ritz. :p

Might have drawn a real monster crowd....but we'll never know.

I posted photos where I was using a real cane somewhere on the forum before. The poop scoop was the primary tool that I actually learned with though. At my retail job I used to actually balance the tip end of an artificial flower on my hand when I would need to return one to the aisle it belonged on. There was a certain size of ink pen display box that made a perfect fit as a hat when turned upside down leaving a flat top where a lighter weight box could be easily balanced on top of my head. I would sometimes wear the upside down display box hat on my head as I stocked freight. It seemed to amuse some people which made me happy.

Here is me briefly balancing a feather to kind of imitate something I would have done with the artificial flowers. The flowers were actually a lot easier to balance though.

Have you ever tried the thing with balancing plates on a stick?
No, I didn't even know that was a thing. They seem like something that would break during the practice process. I might try it with a paper plate.🤔

Balancing a walking cane sideways on my hand while simultaneously balancing a bottle on my head

I use a hunters cane so I can take a break occasionally during walking. I had to stand on a half a sphere keep my balance when in therapy.

Author Gregory Clark was very short, and found that it was handy to carry a stick to get products down from high shelves, use the top of a hat stand, etc. For this, he carried an umbrella all the time, explaining that he'd rather be that old fool with the umbrella in nice weather than that poor old man with the cane.

I tried to balance a cane on my hand recently, no way could I do it. With a glass on my head? That would be miraculous.

I couldn't at first either. What I saying, I couldn't even tie my shoes when I was little! As for the balancing tricks, I started trying years ago and gradually got better. Believe me, when I first start the sideways stick balance trick, I dropped it many times. Especially at the beginning.
