I played this game for first time recently, and became one of my favorites,
i always liked ships and submarines and sea stories,
there is no guns no killing, but being very deep in the dark vast sea and something jumps at you randomly can be very scary,
exploration is great.

Reminds me of astronaut Scott Carpenter, who left the Mercury space program to pursue oceanology. Another true frontier, hardly tapped by science. Much like outer space.

Honestly I didn't think at first it would be but it became one of my favorite games. Usually so calm and chill until you're a km below the surface, running out of air, and something is lurking trying to get at you. Then it got intense, but yeah so well done and the building aspect was also tons of fun. Any survival/crafting game like that I tend to get lost in the building aspect and then realize oh wait, there is an entire story to follow and find out about.

Have you tried the 2nd game? Below Zero? I started it but haven't been able to get into the way I did with the first.

Yeah, is like some people describe the feeling of facing a water dark abyss, activates some instinctive fear.
Below zero Not yet, i may try later, some say is not better than the original, i don't know.
I like the bases a lot, usally i use the submarine as base except for using a base for moonpool and scanner thing, and growing the deep plants.

In the sequal you get this Truck Train type vehicle that lets you build and add on compartments like traincar so you can effectively have a mobile base that if need be you can just detach the front engine off to go explore the tighter spaces. There is still also the full base building in it. No sub in the sequal though, but there are plenty of other new things to keep you interested. Like it has all the makings of a game I'll really enjoy once I get into it, but I just keep getting distracted by other new games and or new dlc for games like Dying Light series or Arc Raiders.
