Stark Warning - Attenborough

No secret that intensive and prolonged poaching of various species is eventually likely to cause their extinction.

But it seems avarice trumps fundamental concern for wildlife. And apparently most everything else...

Might be more central to the issue to consider how much avarice is likely to make our species let alone any other eventually go extinct.

We are at the top of the "natural pyramid". There are only so many supports we can pull out before humans start down the same path of extinction. I think that our numbers will decline severely within 50 years. Our civilization and all its technical wonders is toast within 30 years or so. The remaining humans will be forced into some hybrid of hunter-gatherer and farmer-rancher life. There are just too little in the way of remaining natural resources to support a civilization where the need keeps growing exponentially.
