Some Personality Traits of Hackers Resemble Autism

It's not his area of expertise, he's quoting a study done by Rusconi. His education is in health fitness and his PHD is in Health care information and administration. He's no authority on Aspies or hacking. Although he seems to mean well in attempting to create those connections.

I would be quite leery of this idea unless it came from scientists who were quite familiar with Asperger's and had some studies at hand on hackers. And as people who are hackers stay well below the radar of regular life, they would likely not be open to being studied.

I worked in IT for decades (score very highly on systemising tests) and suspect that a high percentage of my co-workers (the good ones) during that period fall somewhere on the spectrum.

The IT environment is not only attractive to people on the spectrum, it often provides an environment for them to thrive.

Given that hackers are all programmers I don't find it surprising that there is a strong overlap, but I suspect the purpose of the research (?) is to give more control to the machine we call the workplace.

Great, now we are being compared to hackers. I can't believe the article is actually written by a PHD. It ends okay but the title alone is offensive and misleading.
they compare us to everything bad and everyone they don't understand and like.
But we could use the work...it beats starving because they drove us out of more conventional jobs.
