Some good news/some setbacks

Imperfectly Perfect
Originally, I was supposed to start working for Schneider National as a tanker truck driver next week. When you get hired by a motor carrier, you usually spend a few days in orientation first. So I was scheduled to be in orientation on Monday, July 2nd. Unfortunately, I got a call from their medical team and I need a more recent sleep study as well as a visit with the endocrinologist - curses on being diabetic. I could only get appointments towards the end of July. Also, Schneider's new requirements say that anyone who's had weight loss surgery needs to be more than 120 days post-op.

Now for the good news ... my HbA1C is down to 6.4% (pre-diabetic levels), my cholesterol is almost normal, and my blood pressure is normal so I won't need meds anymore. I should easily be able to qualify for a 1 year DOT medical certificate. I wished it could've been the full two years but oh well - I was in so much worse a place.

So, it looks like I had to push my start date to August 6th. Not bad really.
