Social Politics

I'm sitting watching Muriel's Wedding and remembering why I've attempted to block out a lot of senior high school and my 20s.

Muriel's Wedding? I think I'm missing something.

But yes, social politics - and how well it describes all the issues - is a clear-cut nightmare. A nightmare that neurotypicals don't even see is happening at that.

Never ran into girls like that, guess I was a loner to a certain extent. Had a few friends back then, but became completely involved in activities like school plays and gymnastics, and practically lived in the library.

It was her biological family that seemed to not see Muriel as an individual, part of the reason she was seemed so apart, yet obsessed with being a bride. Her Mother seemed almost 'otherworldly' unable to cope with the demands of a family. And the Father seemed to have no interest in his own family. Wonder what a follow-up to that movie would be like? With the Father's relationship with his new 'interest', and Muriel's life later on.
