Ouch. The type that I watch only when feeling masochistic.
Never ran into girls like that, guess I was a loner to a certain extent. Had a few friends back then, but became completely involved in activities like school plays and gymnastics, and practically lived in the library.
It was her biological family that seemed to not see Muriel as an individual, part of the reason she was seemed so apart, yet obsessed with being a bride. Her Mother seemed almost 'otherworldly' unable to cope with the demands of a family. And the Father seemed to have no interest in his own family. Wonder what a follow-up to that movie would be like? With the Father's relationship with his new 'interest', and Muriel's life later on.
