Sensitive necks/ sleeping/ headaches/nausea

Does anyone possibly suffer from an overly sensitive neck? I no longer try to sleep with a pillow and sleep in every angle/ direction on my bed. I have had some pretty severe headaches I believe just from sleeping or laying down and watching a movie. I have to constantly remind myself to sleep on the firm parts of my mattress (it varies because it is old!) or else I will just be useless when I wake up.

I've also had severe nausea that mimics food poisoning that I believe comes from this sensitivity in my neck. Does anyone else have experience with this? I'm just getting over one that has lasted throughout the week, but got really bad within the past 24 hours...no I'm good because I finally remembered that I have his problem, and switched my sleeping position...within a matter of a few hours I'm back to normal (since I remembered).

edit: also an oversensitivity to nausea. Usually if I have to vomit it could last anymore from 12-48 hours of vomiting for about 15-20 minutes out of every hour...maybe sleeping for 3 hour blocks and continue being sick....anyone sensitive like that as well?

I do have problems like this. Often if my neck is even slightly off angle to look at something for a few minutes, it hurts the rest of that day or night. I always wake up with migraines. Unfortunately I also have a long neck. It seems sometimes that my neck just will never be happy and is bound and determined to be sore all day no matter what I do.

I get headaches from sleeping wrong as well. I also get random headaches throughout the day, so I am never sure what causes what, but someday I will find out. My bed is so comfortable that I can easily fall asleep even if I am not tired. I have to be careful though because I might get a headache if I sleep wrong.

I stopped sleeping with a pillow a long time ago. I went for a while sleeping with no pillow at all, and then several months ago, I decided I needed a little something there for my head so it would be inline with the rest of my back. I searched all over for a firm-but-thin pillow and couldn't find anything suitable. Now I use a beach towel folded to just the right thickness and wrapped in a pillow case.

I think a lot of my neck pain comes from having poor posture. When I'm not as stressed and make the effort to stand straight and sit straight, the neck pain fades quite a bit. When I'm stressed, working long hours, and feeling depressed (so...spending a lot of time hunched over), that's when the neck pain really gets to me.
