Seeing your autism in home videos

If you found out you’re autistic as an adult, did you look back at home videos of your childhood and see any signs? What kind of things did you notice?

Not in videos, but just thinking back over my actions makes sense. I would climb out the lounge window and run off on my own to a nearby forest without telling anyone. I only realized that was odd later in life, hell if my kids did that I would be furious!

Well, home movies were usually for the well-off when I was a kid and made on 8mm film, but I know what you mean. I have looked at old photos and found several indicators in them. I posted this one in another thread about the Aspie stare. I'd venture to say that it's obvious:

My childhood was on a bunch of those mini video tapes and my mom just had them in a drawer for years and i stole them and got them comverted to dvd for christmas one year. Good i did cause the oldest one had started degrading and lost the audio. Yesterday I was watching some of them and i noticed it looks like im sitting back and thinking about things. My mom said she was worried about my speech but could “see the wheels turning” and i think i can see that. I know i still do that XD

The problem is with mine I don't know if it's ADHD or its autism , my childhood seems to be running to wherever I need to get to and remembering going to an area I wasn't supposed to be in ,desperately wanting to see it .

I obsessively checked everything I could from the past, even talking with some people about my childhood behaviour.

i went into a rage when I saw myself at 20 on video. A pure rage. I hurt myself afterwards.
