Resident Evil Requiem

It is RE9, essentially. Releases next February.

You play as Leon Kennedy, according to the leaker, Dusk Golem. But a secondary character is Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa in the Outbreak spin off games from the 2000s. Like her mother, she works for the press. But sadly, her mother was killed. :(

At first, fans probably assumed she was Rosemary Winters. As they do look a lot alike, in my opinion. :)

I hope it's good, I have only played 4 and 5

I own 6 but quit after some random person joined my game, I prefer solo gaming personally and that freaked me out lol

You must have played it online and not disabled the option to refuse random players from joining in.

I think RE or really any other horror game, is at its best when played alone. They kind of ruined the series with the action being ramped up in RE4. Then RE5 had co-op. 6 was just a mess.

One of the best games I think is one called Revelations 2. It is over 10 years old now. But this is the one where you play as Barry Burton on an island. Claire Redfield and other characters are playable as well. But I thought the story was really good. The game was creepy as well.

RE7 is good. But you never see the face of Ethan Winters. The plot was convoluted too. It felt like it was supposed to be a non RE game, then had subtle ties to previous games just to link it together. Then Chris shows up, and... well... I just hate the bad redesign he got.

RE8 was very silly. You fight a tall, 7 foot vampire lord who turns into a dragon. They also have an obese vendor, but I feel like being able to buy guns was what tarnished the "survival horror" vibes that RE2 and so on, provided so effectively.

But I mean, the franchise is long running, so you have to expect radical alterations, things not making any sense sometimes, and whatnot.

I think it's on sale on Xbox

I liked 4, TBH it was my first RE game and played it on PS2 and replayed it so many times with the Tommy gun

Someone told me that 2 is very good too, and it's also on sale

Maybe I should check them out because I do enjoy a good horror survival game (loved dead space 1 and 2)

RE2 is a pretty cool game. Though fair warning. If you are getting the original. Be prepared for tank controls.

I don't really care for the RE2 remake. I don't like 3 either. 4 is really great. But 4 to me was when RE completely changed - for the worse. Although 4 is still a solid game, nonetheless.

The original RE remake in 2002 is the GOAT of the lot. It has the perfect atmosphere, without ruining the story at all.

All of the spin offs can burn, besides a couple of them. The movies and all that are pretty meh, but the films are still enjoyable to me. Whether that's the live action ones or the animated tie-in series...

The real RE4 to me is The Umbrella Chronicles. I think CV is also really RE3, but the actual game called RE3 was released as a gap filler.

I am not quite sure why that happened. But CV is in fact the proper follow up to RE2.

I say TUC is really akin to being RE4, because it depicts the downfall of Umbrella through a prequel story set in 2003, I think. While RE4 is well, simply RE4.

RE4 didn't have anything to do with Umbrella. They're just mentioned a little at the beginning. But the rest of the plot concerns a cult which Leon fights. So it totally disregards what the series was building upon. Instead, you deal with parasites that make people act hostile. Meaning a viral outbreak is not at fault here.

However, I do find RE4 and 5 are fun action games. But I think The Evil Within 2 is a better example of an action horror game that is capable of delivering on atmosphere, while being just like RE4 and 5, at least in terms of the gameplay aspects.
