R.I.P. British Actor Ian Holm

Yep, that's the beauty of great performances. Unlike most of us, such people will be remembered well into the future as long as film and video are with us.

Oddly enough I think I will always recall Ian Holm first and foremost as a synthetic human who malfunctioned in "Alien". And I don't mean his wardrobe. :cool:


And his performance as a Bolshevik sailor in "Nicholas and Alexandra", assigned to return the Romanov family to the custody of the Moscow Soviet, which became a failed mission when the Ural Soviet intervened and executed the entire family.

He did a fantastic audiobook reading of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in which he pronounced “Jekyll” the correct way. Wonderful actor.
 
I always enjoyed watching his performances. Besides the films mentioned I would add favorites like his Welsh Captain in Henry V, his spy character in the Game, Set and Match series and a small but wonderful comedic cameo as Napoleon in 'Time Bandits'.
