wasn't quite sure where to put this thread so it's ended up here.

does anyone else play pikmin bloom?

I've become obsessed with it over the last year but never found anyone in real life that plays. You can make friends with other players ingame but there's no chat function. I love sending my Pikmin all over the world to defeat mushrooms and bring back interesting postcards though.

just thought I'd ask

Never heard of it. When I first read the title I wondered if it was something like the fish killing algal bloom that has infested waters near my city for the past 12 months.

Then when I saw it was a phone app I realised why I had never heard of it. Quite a few of us have issues with phones and avoid using them where ever possible.

.... interesting that phones are an issue, I didnt know that!
It's to do with audio processing disorder. I'm a very good communicator, even a bit of a con man in a face to face situation, but I rely heavily on lip reading and body language in order to communicate. Over the phone I can only understand every second or third word and I have to keep asking people to repeat themselves again and again.

I have a phone because you have to these days but it lives next to my computer and hardly ever gets touched. I never take it with me when I got out, I hate them.

I've not travelled very far since I started playing and live quite rurally so my decor collection is slow to develop in a lot of categories. I'm glad there are special pikmin to give me a reason to keep growing the ones i can get. I've got all the special river ones, trying to complete the new special coin ones now.

Every month I start off with the idea I don't need ro get the whole collection of special pikmin but mostly i end up keep going until I do. There's only one month I didnt complete... i got to level 12 on the missions trying, but no luck

ah. I don't use mine for phone calls unless it's an emergency. Much to the annoyance of some people in my life, I simply don't answer it. I think for me it's a transition thing. I can do phone calls if I have to but there's a need to be already in talking mode which i can't do if it just rings without warning.

I mostly use it for text communication and navigation. It enables me to wander off into the hills on my own as it tells me where I am and how to get back. Plus if I needed help I could share my exact location. I'd be a lot less adventurous without it.

I looked into the algae thing. we have that in some of reservoirs and at certain times of year it stops the wild swimming. I have to keep the dog away from the blue algae, is that the stuff killing the fish?

When I had to go home from Taipei, some of my Pikmin were out collecting items that they found and one group took three months just to return to me.

Although it's salt water algae it's very much the same thing. Odd weather conditions and unique geographical features meant that this time the algal bloom became huge and lasted far longer than normal. It became a mass extinction event that wiped out almost all ocean life in the region as well as making any animals or people that swam in it get sick.

It was a national disaster.

What is happening with SA's algal bloom and why should the rest of Australia care?

oh wow that's a vast problem. It says that other algae could eat it but I suppose it would take a lot of the helpful algae to make a difference. I was confused they hadn't recognised this as a national disaster given it's size and impact!

Unfortunately there's a lot of politicians and bureaucrats that think Sydney represents all of Australia and is the only place that matters.

But our state is used to that and used to having to sort our own problems out. The algal bloom is finally diminishing now and if we get a decent winter this year it will be gone.

I really hope so for the marine life and the people!

We have a similar London centric problem. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all have their own parliament in addition to the London one. England doesn't and so only has the UK government in London. The north of England is generally overlooked. Every government comes in promising to invest in the north but once in power the northern projects are the first to get cut. for example one government decided to build a high speed railway to link London to the north but started at the London end, built a fancy new station and by the time they got to the Midlands, (a few hours drive up the road) they scrapped the project.

I think the problem might be in population density, they have more politicans per square metre! The two main parties presented candidates they'd shipped in from the South to represent our constituency at the last election having used some pretty shady tactics to remove the local incumbent.
