My relationship with my son is kind of strained. Due to his mother and I not getting along well. He lives in another town 30 miles away and I work ALOT.......(and seem to get no where financially) but that's another story.
Anyways, now that I know he's autistic I am better equipt to handle his meltdowns.
So I picked him up and took him to the water park yesterday. Had a blast. Lazy river, wave pool, went on a slide or 5:). Everything was going great until one slide...... side note, you know those slides you ride down at carnivals where you ride down on a burlap sack? Like that but with a foam rubber mat and water..... well we got up there got lined up to go down, here comes the count down...... freak out...... ok come over here son. We went off to the side sat down calmed him down. I gave him no choice, were not walking down the stairs..... were going down the slide. period. So once calmed we stood up, and started watching some other riders after a few mins he says ok dad lets go. so we went. Made it to the bottom. He said he hated it and will never do it again. But I'm proud of him for going anyways. I made sure he knew that.
