Evil Genius

I am a life long "black sheep" that has only been diagnosed officially as an Aspie this year. I've been canned from a couple of different jobs before, partly or in whole to what I can attribute now to Aspie issues. I am even on the chopping block at my current job absolutely for things that can be attributed to being an Aspie.

My wife is a NT. My son shows signs of being an Aspie.

I don't know anyone else in the family who could be/is an Aspie though.

Life sucks sometimes. The anxiety, depression, ADHD that all comes with it is what I have trouble with. Hopefully talking to you guys will help.

Sorry to be a downer. I hate negative energy, but am also being honest.

So sorry to hear of all your struggles - but we can all relate. Living with anxiety and depression is no way to live - there is no shame in getting medical help in those areas until things stabilize and your coping improves. And with insight that an official diagnosis brings, you can find make decisions that will help you cope.

Example from my choices: Specifically looked for a job with regular hours - being on call and not knowing when I'll be called in to work would not work for me. Working with the public would not work well for me - not that I can't do it, I hide my Asperger's well and function well, it would just be too exhausting, and the mental exhaustion brings along the fun duo of depression and anxiety.

Well if you are in fact an evil genius that would explain the 'black sheep' thing.

Welcome!

Hah!

Thanks. Can be tough when you're in Middle America and no one here gets it, and I'm not even any closer than 2 hours to a therapist. I suspect I shall be frequenting here quite a bit.
