My problem is: I am interested in our family history, probably always have been but I can't stand the way my parents present it or my late grandparents did it. Even as a child I was annoyed by their communication.
 
Speaking of traveling :). About 5 or 6 years ago I tried to talk my sisters into us going to this area in West Virginia where the Clay massacre occurred (our ancestors). There's a haunted abandoned amusement park built over the site of the massacre and a monument. I think ghost hunters have been there for one of their shows. Anyway I really wanted to go and thought it would be fun. We didn't.
Now a few weeks ago she sent me and my other sister a text about the place and said we should go. Apparently a friend of hers had gone and was showing her pictures (which she forwarded to us), telling us about the place - all pretty much repeated stuff that I had told them before. She wasn't excited about going until her friend (a judge) told her about it.
I told her if it's something my DIL would want to do since I can't drive that far any more, otherwise not.

I always liked hearing the stories about my mom's past - growing up in a coal mine town and how she basically lived with her grandma because their house was too small. I love listening to her two sisters talk about their childhood (one always stole the other's socks) and things like that. I think the sock story is my favorite. Aunt 1 would sew a piece of thread into the toes of her new socks to mark them as hers. Aunt 2 would remove the thread from those socks and claim them as hers. Aunt 1 wasn't aware of what she was doing. lol But then, I know these people.
