Hi I'm a newbie, just another label, age 61, found out a month ago. Not sure unpacking is feasible... Hate feeling like a patient.

I'm same age.
Found out 3 years ago.
Still trying to get used to the feeling.

This is the ONE place I can let it all out and not feel different.
We are all very open and sharing.

Hello!

My father is 61 also but when I talked to him about ASD ( He is in my opinion more obivously on the spectrum than me and his family is aswell.) he compltetely denied it !

You are open minded to even consider all of that now, you lived with it and coped your own way, so now this is complicated to change all of that. Even if you are not planning on changing anything, looking back at your life with a different point of view must be exhausting and hard to deal with.

Being a patient ? You still manage to leave your life at your own pace right? Then everything is fine and you are not a patient^^.
You know everyone has a little something in their head , even NT, if they take the time to look closely, their is always some stuff in the back of everyone's head^^

Curious as to why you feel like a patient. Unless there's an unresolved problem in your life that is now being met by a psychologist or other professional, there's really no reason for you to feel that way. Discovering you're on the spectrum should help you understand difficult aspects of your life, but there's no reason to allow yourself to become "medicalized." If you have average or above intelligence, you're capable of doing for yourself, gaining insight into your life, that professionals will do, but at a cost you may not be willing to pay or can't afford. There's no requirement that you put yourself in the hands of professionals.

I keep flashing back to missed opportunities of why I didn't catch the signs of having asperger syndrome. I see everything so fragmented and unreliable now. A simulation gone rogue, with too much pseudo science around me.
