Hi everyone I'm new to this site and I joined because I am concerned about my girlfriends son. I'm 99% sure he is on the spectrum but hasnt been diagnosed. Can anyone out there help me? I have some questions and concerns. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the welcome!! Yes I'm a huge Motocross fan haha. I need to browse around more and see if I can find some answers. I worry about a child I know and there are so many times where I feel like I hit a rock wall and dont know what to do with him sometimes.

How does the girlfriend feel about the possibility of him being on the spectrum. Is she in denial? If so, the 'problem' won't go away; it would get worse if he doesn't get the help he needs. Society is so much more demanding than it was when many of us were growing up.

Why do you think he has autism?
Have you brought the subject up with his mother?
Is she receptive to seeking help for him?

No she isnt in denial after I showed her all the research I've looked at and she knew something was going on at the start of age 3. I wish she would have had him diagnosed back then but the past is the past and we have to look towards the future. Exactly, society isnt as "giving" as it was years ago so thats why I want the proper tools to prepare him for adulthood.

Of course I'm no doctor so I cannot diagnose him but I've dont tons of research online and with what I have found no one can deny that he might be on the spectrum. Great news is she knows someone that just had her daughter diagnosed with Aspergers so she got the phone number to their pediatric behavioral specialist and I guess this doctor is supposed to be very good. Looks like it will be about 3-4 months out before we can see her though cause shes backed up that much but hey its a start!!!

That's great you know someone and have a phone number. Hopefully the boy would get the help he needs, and it won't cost you a pretty penny. Good luck!
