Hey everyone!

I am a 25 year old male and I am new on this forum. I am self-diagnosed autist, I had an evaluation with a psychiatrist for ADHD earlier this year, but that process was cut short because I do not show enough symptoms, even though I still have some of the tendencies. I have been reading a lot about autism and doing online tests and I am pretty sure that I have "high-functioning" autism, it explains a lot of the troubles from my childhood (stimming that others considered weird, daydreaming, trouble with social cues, being bullied because I didn't understand what was going on etc).

I am looking for friends from other autistic people to share thoughts and bond with. :)

welcome to af.webp

Movies, especially very visually stimulating ones (great cinematography),
I am also a movie fan and have some 70 years of movie watching amounting to uncounted thousands of films. I would hazard a guess that I have seen most of the films listed in the final printing of Leonard Matlin's compendium of quick movie reviews (some of them more than once).

Welcome! I think you will enjoy your time here, I know that I do.

Hi, welcome! :)
Your symptoms (or lack thereof) sound a lot like me. I was formally diagnosed as a child but have grown out of a lot of stuff, thankfully, and live an entirely "normal" life independently, with a full-time job. I definitely do have autistic traits though (I have stronger and more intense special interests than even a lot of autistic people do) and I get along much better with autistic people. I have made a lot of friends on this forum and I hope you will too!

Thank you! Wow, sounds very interesting.

Yep, I have also a lot of the traits but pretty similar to you, I can function pretty well in independent work and for example in an academic setting. Most of the traits I only discovered during the last year or so while studying autism by myself (became quite a special interest at the time hahaha). My parents didn´t know much about autism when I was a kid, they thought I had Tourettes or something like that because of the stimming I used to do but I think I just started masking it because I used to get in trouble for it in school
