Imagine the standard issue human mind as a scenery of rolling hills. Each Hill top represents innate talents. Each dip represents innate weaknesses.
Now consider the autistic mind as a scenery of mountain ranges. Each peak represents outstanding talents, each ravine innate extreme weaknesses.
NT society sees the mountain range, and rather than consider the amazing and unique view the peaks offer they see only the deep ravines of weakness. They then seek to fill in the valleys at the expense on the whole mountain range, destroying the peaks and the unique value they offer mankind.
The strategy should be to open up access to the peaks by helping people with the ravines and cliffs.
...and the occasional avalanche from too much noise
