I am too curious for my own good. I get that urge to look up things that upset me. Or, in this case, infamous shock sites/videos. Before you ask: No. Haven't been to any except one close call back in public school.

My recent obsession is the legendary "Daisy's Destruction". If you tell me about something gruesome, I'll be interested. Where The Dead Go To Die, Cannibal Holocaust, Last House On The Left...

This is in NO way for my pleasure. I'm actually afraid of myself, my curiosity, my impulses...And I need help admitting this to Mom.
 
I learnt that curiosity always isn't necessary after I viewed Two Girls, One Cup and a bunch of other associated videos. Now I know the worst stuff that's on internet that's still legal to view.

Why do you feel like you need to your mum?
 
Being curious alone about much of anything isn't a crime. But it can be a personal asset if you can find work over it. You just need to put morbid curiosity whether your own or that of others into proper perspective.

Go seek out any person majoring in forensic science. One of the toughest academic programs one can subject themselves to in a pursuit of higher education.

You should see their textbooks! ;)

I majored in totalitarian systems and constitutional law. Nothing like studying mass murder on a political scale. People like me simply "harness" such curiosity. Being aware of such things and actually perpetrating them are two very different things.

I'm also looking into crimes to inspire my first book in my series World Of Darkness.
 
Think of the works of authors like Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Shirley Jackson, Agatha Christie, Margaret Truman and so on. One can only wonder what when on in their minds. But whatever it was, they took it all the way to the bank.

Their bad. ;)

watch the updated version of last house on the left;with aaron paul-it is far better in my opinion.

as for cannibal holocaust,i felt like absolute crap when i saw the animals being killed in that [for benefit of people who have never seen it,there were exotic breeds of animal tortured and killed on screen for real despite being a fictional movie,and the maker of the film regretted making it years on],so i quickly turned it off didnt see it all the way through and got hold of an edited version that had edited all the animal cruelty out apparently- didnt have the balls to watch it again.
any animal cruelty really affects me whether fake or real,or real in a fake movie.

the thing with these movies is you have to remember they arent real, for example the rape scenes in them are fake,remember theyre all actors.
if you are mentally processing the reality of these videos you are perhaps learning about the murky world we live in-you dont get this on youtube and i dont see theres anything wrong with that,lots of people are curious with the dark side of life but it doesnt make you a pyschopath.

i used to be obsessed with watching video sites that were totally shocking- i dont want to mention the brutality of some of these videos but they didnt affect me; i was curious,i have no empathy for people,i watched them as i have absolutely no understanding of the way humans work,of how they are and how they are born and leave this earth.its reality and it interested me to understand people better.
the residential home where i lived got a block on my laptop to stop me looking at anything less than decent.
 
I kind of do that too; I'm interested in anything involving dead bodies, even if they're decomposed. But I don't consider it to be a problem and I don't do it constantly.
Not interested in porn or the like either.
 
When I was in high school, I was obsessed with serial killers. I read books and watched documentaries and movies based on them. I also, begrudgingly admit that my morbid curiosity drove me to look up some pretty disturbing videos online.

I too have real problems with an insatiable curiosity on the internet. I am obsessed with the paintings of the Belgium surrealist artist, Paul Delvaux. Then sometimes I look at the drawings of the Finnish artist Tom of Finland. Last night after watching a television programme about French art, I looked at a piece of Delacroix art, which is dreadful but compelling. I have looked at film clips from the Exorcist. But I just get troubled by these viewings. I want to be in a shared house with people I trust, and share a computer and tell them about these problems, and have the computer not in my room and supervised, so I don,t get upset or obsessed. I have looked at the preparation for confession by St John of Kronstadt, and the 5 hindrances in Buddhism, but don,t live in a household at the moment where I can get help with any of these problems.

Why have I never thought to do just that?? Thank you for mentioning this! I'm off to hunt for forensic textbooks.

"Homicide Investigation" in particular. All the criminal justice majors in my dorm had the same textbook. Fascinating stuff, though quite graphic. They also used to trot around carrying another title I found interesting. "Deviant Behavior".

Thanks. Unfortunately can't find that one (homicide investigation) anywhere at the moment, but I shall keep looking :)

EDIT: Nearly fell of the sofa when I saw the price. £92. Then I remembered how expensive textbooks are for university (when I started in 2005 we had to buy one particular one and it was £60) plus Amazon have the last edition used for £43. I know what I'm buying myself for my birthday.

I've always been a curious on many different things from an very early age. I looked up things in books and rarely websites, went to lectures, and so on all so I could understand the world and myself better.

When I was six or seven I could explain step by step the ancient Egyptian mummification process. At eight, I could explain the top ten most used medieval torture devices and how to properly use them and what they did. At nine, I knew almost every detail about Jack the Ripper cases (with updating internal facts over the years). At ten I knew of rare mass serial killers of America. At eleven I became fascinated with forensics and forensic psychology and profiling. I love the field of applying psychology and profiling to historical and legendary figures

Heck, I still am considering getting a used textbook for homicide investigations, forensics, and the like.

What I mean to say is, a morbid curiosity is good. You just need to find a way to channel it the right way.

Clones would work. There were similar killings when Jack the Ripper was active (belonged to someone else...Which was kind of smart hiding in another killers shadow for years) and other Ripper like killings up and down the eastern coast of the US shortly after the killings halted.

But yeah, I love dark things. The Hellfire Club history amazes me
