Medication makes those Aspie Qualities less obvious?

Edit: Title is supposed to be less not like

Ever since i was young my Aspie qualities have always been kinda obvious and even disabling at times, i sensory issues, communication issues and more.

Recently though i spent some time in a mental hospital. i was having bad depression and anxiety and having issues even doing my ADLs (activities of daily living) when i got out i had a script for 3 medications along side my other medications for a total of 5. my new medications were a sleeping aid, an antidepressant and a mood stablizer

this was the first ever time i was put on a mood stabilizer and this medication has a primary use as an anti seizure medication which was another reason i was put on it. i suffer from myclonic jerks. before maybe 10+ a day on this medication only 2 or so. these also are reminiscent of absence seizures which would explain the change. now for the real part

these medications work wonders for my my mood is so good now and i am able to get up and do things. my energy is so high but stable. but i also found an interesting thing. my sensory issues are not as big of an issue,i dont mind people as much as a used to and so much more. while i do feel i am still on the spectrum i found it amazing that my life feels totally different now.

i know medications like ADD meds can be used to treat the issues associated for autisim spectrum disorders but can something as simple as an anti seizure medication do it?

That's been my experience. An experienced physician with the right background/focus on co-existing conditions may prescribe "off label"--ie, determine that a particular Rx can help even though you don't have the primary condition that Rx is marketed for. Note that word "marketed." Some drugs are very useful for managing symptoms.

I'm so glad for you that you've been able to find this out--matching diagnoses and drugs can be a patient process! It tool a good many years for me to find my balance.

well the wonderful thing for me is that it got rid of my jerks almost entirely too, while i was in the hospital i did have a fairly significant abcence seizure when some lights were flickering when i came out of a room, what is awesome is that the medication i needed perscribed off label was the medication that also helped me with what it is ment for
