I have an app loaded on my phone that lets me study various courses for free. I started studying a statistics course yesterday and today I added one of the algebra ones to review since it's been awhile since I studied it in school. I actually enjoyed the little taste of statistics that was introduced back when I was in school so hopefully I'll actually enjoy that one. I have been and so hopefully it will stay fun. After these, I probably need to do geometry and calculus. I'm nervous about the idea of taking up calculus because I never studied it, but know that it has a reputation of being difficult.

Sounds like a great- and convenient tool in view of the possibility of having to be tested over such things.

Sure beats having to go to the library. ;)

Calculus is easy. It’s algebra that stymied me.

I thought algebra was a prerequisite of calculus.
It is. But the only requirement for graduation was calculus. I talked the instructor into let me in. I could do the calculus, but it always ends up with a little algebra at the end, which I usually messed up. But he didn’t care as long as the calculus part was right.

As I recall, calculus only involves following certain steps in the right order. No problem for me.

I always had an intuitive feel for calculus. Maybe you will be like me it's could be easy or hard depending how your mind works I bought three great courses series of lectures on calculus years ago they were great, Now on line at a modest price. I would check these out even for statistics two series of lectures. I think you are very bright should pick up this stuff easily.

All calculus is is is dividing by 0 using clever tricks once you get this easy.

Calculus is more visually intuitive algebra is manipulating variables, gets tricky a bit confusing at times. it's a prerequisite so you know how to manipulate the variables. If you are a visual thinker calculus will be easier. Doing all this manipulation is why I like physics better than math I am a highly visual thinker memorizing all the ways to manipulate is not my thing.

Looks like you have a rudimentary plan, each step moves you ahead, Once you get the basics paths open up. I used very little math in my career, had very good color vision. So you never know. In my case statistics and calculus were the branches of math I found the easiest to follow and useful.

Excellent, you may be interested in checking out the great courses lectures in chemistry. They are very good.all on line now.
