Matching clothes

I'm going to say Punky Brewster. It a TV show of a kid wearing mix matched clothes. The point I trying to come across is I like the idea person into mix matched clothes since they want to be different.

My mom is continuously telling me that the clothes I wear don't match, even though they always look perfectly fine to me. I don't understand how people decide what matches and what doesn't and how they keep track of it. "This goes with this, except not in this case because you're wearing this; this color and this color don't match, except they can when you're wearing this color; this color and this color don't work together because they're similar, but this color and this color work because they're opposite, but these colors do work because they're similar..." and on and on.

Does anybody else have problems with this?
Yes. I have had this issue. It is part of autism

No. It's a matter of preference and opinion and I don't wear clothes to adhere to the preferences of others.

I wear what I like (unless trying to impress others or blend in by following an unspoken, unofficial dress code; or when following an official dress code) aesthetically and in terms of comfort more than anything.... and if others don't like my clothes I don't care;

It's not like they have to wear what I do, nor even as if I force them to stare at me and be aesthetically disturbed...

If they don't like what they see then they can avert their eyes and mind their own business.

Style in clothing is ever-changing and infinitely subjective. Some people like all clothes to match in various aspects of fit, colors, fabrics, conceptual associations, etc...Some are less concerned about this or think too much matching looks bad.

Sometimes the "in" thing is actually stark contrast between articles of clothing or in different areas of a garment - albeit usually following a specific pattern, or to achieve a certain visual affect.

(e.g women wearing corsets and snug/fitting shirts matched with absurdly ballooned-out, billowing skirts in the 1800s.
