Married + late ASD1 diagnosis = problems

My story is fairly negative. I married at 24 (43years ago), always knew I was different but tried to be normal. When I couldn't be normal I was ridiculed which eventually made me bitter about the relationship. Counselling didn't help. After diagnosis, age 54, I was told that I was using my Dx as an excuse for bad behaviour! A couple of years later, after thinking that a suicide attempt would solve the problem, we got divorced. That did solve the problem and I eventually met someone who accepts me the way I am. Not sure if that helps, everyone is different.
