Making Jokes Sooner than Appropriate

I don't think this is exclusively an Asperger's trait. In fact, I know for a fact that there are plenty of people who can be pretty callous, regardless of the diagnosis. But this recent incident of a sinkhole at an IHOP reminds me of how I use to make a joke about a situation, regardless of how many people would naturally be upset by it - mainly in the case of people being hurt or dying.
