Looking for a new job, either voluntary or paid

Because of the issues of my feud with the old guy at work (which is not my fault), I am currently looking for a new position.

I have looked on the Sheffield Volunteer Website and expressed interest in a couple of bits, but if possible I'd rather work for loot, been doing the voluntary thing for nearly 25 years and it literally doesn't pay anything, and for some of the stuff I've done I should be getting Awards off The Queen IMO, but there's not much chance of that.

So anyway, what kind of stuff should I be applying for that's suitable for a 41 year old Aspie? I have skills in IT, Retail and Admin, as well as 4 years of Hospital Radio experience as a co-presenter.

In reality, whatever it is you want to apply for. We could all suggest stuff, but it would be our opinion and none of it may be stuff that's actually suitable for you or something that you'd even want to do.

Rich, even though you may not have received actual comp for your volunteer work, it can, and should be included on your CV ( You've got your CV out there, right? Online, I mean? ) Regarding landing an actual paying post... Here's an idea... Try a temp agency! Craig's List has provided me hits and/or led me to leads with unexpected and delightful frequency.

You might check to see if your community offers any job counseling programs.

Where you are tested to see where your real aptitude may be, and introduce you to jobs that you may have not even heard of rather than relying only on what you know at the present.

It's how I got a career in insurance underwriting. A profession I had never even heard of before I learned about it through the university that counseled me.

I have a 2 page CV detailing most of 25 years of voluntary positions.

Some stuff I've done is not included because A) I can't remember the exact dates, and B) to include absolutely everything would make my CV far too long, most employers don't like CVs of more than 2 pages apparently.

True. My sister went through a period after she dropped out of uni where she had many very short term jobs. She had them all on her CV, and was eventually told by the job centre that that was the reason that more long term places weren't interested in hiring her.

She cut it down and got a job a few years back through an agency.
