I hope it lands in the ocean somewhere.

My daughter and I were talking about Bob at mission control who got up to go on his break, and accidentally pushed the big red "Launch" button on his way out the door.

But in all seriousness, I haven't told anyone, but this frightens me very much. Not so much for myself, but for anyone that could be hurt. I really, really hope it falls in the ocean.

Let's all remember to pray for the safety of the innocent people of the nations that the rocket will be flying over.

The odds of it damaging anything are pretty remote. Most of the world is unoccupied space. Might be a good time to test an anti-sat weapon on it.

Early reports are saying that the rocket came down just west of the Maldives, in the Indian Ocean.

This is a lesson the rest of the world took to heart decades ago. One should not intentionally allow large hunks of space debris to reenter randomly. It takes very little effort to control where something reenters but it does reduce the payload capability slightly. Accidents happen - but this was no accident.

So Chinese state media says. Should be interesting to see what Britain and the US have to say about it given their rather sophisticated intel resources in this part of the world.

Then again for the same reason they may choose to say nothing at all.

Could well be. Might have been an elaborate attempt to test western defenses of the highest technological order. But then the west wisely declined in "playing such cards".
