List just one thing you did today

I talked (like, with real voices!😮), to two fellow aspies today. I hadn't talked with either of them before. At the start of both, I was pretty nervous. But it turned out to be so... fulfilling. And fun. Such a wonderful day.✨

Picked my first harvest of non concord grapes, EVER!

I downloaded the application form to be a volunteer at a newly founded retreat for young women with substance addictions. It's a Christian charity that has a good record of success for young male offenders with addiction problems and they're now expanding it to include women. The women will have undergone detox and will be tested for drugs before they can come to the facility. The charity asked if I could help with a lot of things - teaching cooking, gardening, how to iron clothes, and tutoring to help them take the GED. I'm willing to help but don't want to find my life consumed by volunteering. I think I'll start with teaching a weekly cooking class and we will eat what we cook. Maybe start with teaching them how to cook hamburgers or spaghetti, etc.

Good idea to start small. This kind of thing makes me nervous for you due to my past experience with addicts and jail. It can swallow your life and rip out your heart. They can turn on you in a flash. Please be careful.

Have been practicing "contrary motion" on the harp (one hand plays upscale while the other plays downscale), and can now play through the exercises competently.

It's weird the way one has to convince their brain to decouple one's hands.

Starting small definitely is best. I specifically asked about security at the facility and felt like they kind of brushed away any concerns about a patient going off the rails. Then, I thought about them handling sharp knives in a cooking class. Still thinking about that angle.

Two experienced counselors will live at the facility with the women and two other staffers will be there every day. There will be 8-12 patients there so the ratio of counselors to patients will be about 1 to 2 or 1 to 3.
