List just one thing you did today

Picked a big bowl of strawberries, washed them, put them in the refrigerator until they were cold, them ate them one by one.

They were sooooooo good!

Husband and I just took photos of each other, consistent with the US passport guidelines, so we can renew our passports online. Our current passports will expire in one year but by acting now, we can renew them online with a lot less hassle than in years past.

I fought for myself with writing to people with power and then sharing with community to maybe feel less alone.

Even though I am increasingly angry and obnoxious when I do so (and somehow when I wait and rewrite over and over it just gets worse...)

Even though I could easily make it worse. With authority and with community...don't know.

Because if I don't even try then I alone am responsible if only bad ever happens to me and everyone turns away....if I don't even try it is like I am behaviourally saying "everything is fine; Nothing is wrong; I am okay with all of this."

Because every person in existence has worth, and deserves to be fought for when they are badly mistreated or have serious unmet needs; Even when nobody else will stand up for me, I can still stand up for me. (and others but I didnt do that today)

Our electricity went out about 4:00 a.m. and the generator kicked on. I'm sitting on the couch with the cats, watching Rick Stein's Road to Mexico show, and perusing the internet. This is not how I like to start my day!

I've been dealing with the bank and the police this morning. If you need to take a nap (I'm venting), please continue reading:

Midnight last night, I got a text message from the bank about a suspicious check drawn on our account payable to the county tax collector in the altered amount of $1,225.50. I notified the bank that we did not write that check. Husband had written the check payable to the tax collector for the license plate for our old farm truck for $25.50.

Husband put the check to the tax collector in one of the outside mailboxes at the post office on Saturday. He did not go inside the PO to mail the check. Someone with a stolen key emptied the outside mailbox, altered our check to add $1200 to the amount, deposited it electronically using a mere photo of the altered check, to an account in the name of an individual. After paying the altered check with money from our account, the bank decided the check looked suspicious and notified us.

Long story short, bank has closed our account which we've had for 30+ years for all withdrawals but left it open for deposits for the present time. Bank opened a new account for us and transferred all but one dollar to the new account and ordered new checks for us. This gives us time to notify social security and husband's PERS retirement manager that all future automatic deposits need to go to the new bank account number.

So, we are spending this lovely afternoon figuring out which entities have automatic withdrawals coming out of the old account, finding phone numbers for them and their account numbers, and notifying them of the new bank account number. We have to call each one and "wait for the next available customer service representative", explain the situation and hope for the best.

The police explained that this is an ongoing crime ring which steals mail from post offices, alters checks and deposits the money in some mule's (usually some young person too dumb to realize that they are messing up their lives forever) bank account.

We thought we were safer to mail the check from the post office rather than leaving the check in our rural mailbox at the end of the driveway. Not so!

The bank hopes it will be able to refund us the money that should never have been taken from our account to begin with!

Tonite l made potato salad, and mixed in a big scoop of pea protein powder. I doctored it a tab by more mustard, etc. And it is being eaten up by my guy who has severe protein needs as a result of dialysis. He totally likes it. Dialysis removes the excess sodium, however it also removes everything including the good.

Disassembled and reassembled an airless paint sprayer. Turns out I didn't need to, but cool to see the inner workings of the mysterious beast. Turns out the priming function will work if I pull the knob out- the cam wore out.
So the sheetrock panels were able to be primed today. Hopefully the splatter texturing will go well tomorrow?
