Laughing when in very bad pain

I've hurt my back this weekend .Very painfully.
But when in extreme pain I laugh . Crazy laughing isnt a sign that says help me
This is really bad .
My partner that wasn't very helpful anyway ( another story in it's self )
She thought it very odd .
In extreme pain I don't have a pre set list of emotions
It is what it is

I've seen that before. Its really not weird. Laughter is the best medicine as they say. Except if it makes it hurt more.

I laugh my way through emotional pain. I joke about minor physical pain, but when it gets really bad I don’t laugh anymore.

i hit s tree skiing not to long ago. crash was big enough to break my pole, and send my skis flying off of my feet. i was laughin in pain. i felt i really had no other choice besides crying, i had to express my pain somehow.

Yes it's laughter as an extream reaction , nothing I can control.
The laughing can even make the pain worse.
I have also laughed when extremely upset emotionally .

A couple months or so ago, someone accidentally poured a spoon of hot soup right off the stove onto my hand and I laughed. If I stub my toe or something, I am liable to end up walking around with a involuntary Cheshire grin on my face for a bit until the pain subsides even if I do avoid actually laughing.🙄 Of course, I grin and laugh frequently due to an easily triggered sense of humor too so it is often difficult for others to know if a extra wide grin or a laugh is genuine amusement or if it is a pain response or a fear or anxiety response. I call it a highly animated poker face.😅
